Bubble Wrap World Record In Jeopardy

Minor league baseball games are a lot of fun. If you're lucky, you might catch a prospect who will turn into a star. Most likely, you'll get wasted on a beer promotion, eat a burger meant to feed four by yourself and drunkenly yell at strangers about the time you had a walk off hit by a pitch when you were 8-years-old. I might have made that a little too specific at the end. Then there are the ridiculous promotions that minor league teams put on that would make Bill Veeck proud.

On Saturday night, the Lowell Spinners will attempt to break the world record for the most people popping bubble wrap at the same time...
The Single-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox will go for the record during the third inning of Saturday's game against the Aberdeen Ironbirds. Each fan, staff member and player will receive a one-foot-square piece of bubble wrap upon entering the park.
Free bubble wrap? The people of Lowell are always so lucky. Apparently this little shindig is honor of Bubble Wraps' 50th anniversary or something.

Even better? In 2004, the Spinners set the world record for biggest game of Duck, Duck, Goose. I've sent the New Orleans Zephyrs some of my finer ideas. Largest game of TV tag, most goats on the infield, most cans of orange Play-Doh eaten by a first baseman and let me drink free night. None of my emails have been returned.
