Curveballs for Jobu 4/12/11

Curveballs for Jobu is Offbasepercentage's daily trip around the ballparks.

Today's honorary bat boy is Paul Assenmacher.

Athletics 2, Whitesox 1 (10). The Palehose wasted eight shut out innings of two-hit ball from Mark Buehrle when Juan Pierre dropped a fly ball for the tying run in the 9th and Kurt Suzuki homered in the 10th. Dallas Braden allowed a run and struck out seven in six innings, then screamed at a hot dog wrapper to get off his mound (speculation).

Rockies 7, Mets 6. Rafael Betancourt: 1 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 1 HR, HOLD.

Devilrays 16, Redsox 5. Daisuke Matsuzaka and 71-year old Tim Wakefield combined to allow 12 earned runs in 5 1/3 innings, or Kevin Mmahat in 1989.

Mariners 8, Bluejays 7. Toronto was cruising, up 7-0 through 6 1/2 innings, even getting production from Corey...Patt...COREY PATTERSON?! Jesus, I thought I saw Corey Patterson at the Ingles by my apartment, directing an elderly woman towards the soy milk, but no, he's in Seattle, hitting a two-run home off Felix Hernandez in 2011 for Henry Cotto's sake. The Mariners fought back, getting one in the seventh, five in the eighth-three consecutive bases loaded walks from Octavio Dotel helped-and in the ninth, Luis Rodriguez polished off a 10-pitch at bat with a two-run single. That snaps the Mariners' seven-game losing streak.

Cardinals 8, Diamondbacks 2. Fat Elvis: 2 HR, 3 RBIs.

Cubs 5, Astros 4. It's been a tough stretch for the Houston franchise, but we'll always have Mike Scott, "Famous Pitcher", in full uniform picking up trash on the Texas highway and making a garbage can explode:

Other games, but down here...

Indians 4, Angels 0
Dodgers 6, Giants 1
Reds 3, Padres 2
